How Can a Laser Cleaning Machine Quickly Clean Weld Seams?

There’s a saying in industry: lasers are omnipotent and invincible. Why is this? Because they can not only weld and cut metals, but also be used as cleaning equipment.

So how do laser cleaning machines quickly clean weld seams? As a new application of lasers, laser cleaning technology works by using a narrow-pulse, high-power-density laser to act on the surface of the object to be cleaned. Through the combined effects of rapid optical vibration, vaporization, decomposition, and plasma ablation, contaminants are detached from the substrate, achieving surface cleaning.

Currently, it is suitable for cleaning solid electrodes, rubber tire molds, aircraft engine blades, weapon maintenance, large mirrors (such as astronomical telescopes), magnetic heads, and anilox rollers (without damaging the cell walls). It can perfectly and thoroughly remove dried ink, adhesives, steel filings from printing plates and scrapers, oil floating on water, oil stains on roads, old signs, zebra crossings, marble restoration, surface cleaning of stainless steel and other metal products, rust removal and paint removal in automobile repair, and cleaning of cultural relics. Laser cleaning machines offer a wide range of applications, including rust and film removal, paint and plastic stripping, degreasing and dewaxing, oil and dirt removal, and oxide scale removal.

Laser cleaning equipment is not only a green and environmentally friendly cleaning method, but also features non-contact, consumable-free, and highly efficient cleaning. It can quickly clean welds and weld beads with minimal damage to the substrate; it does not produce secondary pollution, and the removed substances are recyclable; it can achieve micron-level precision control; it consumes only electricity; and it boasts strong applicability and mobility.

This is also the biggest advantage of laser cleaning technology compared to traditional chemical cleaning techniques: it provides “extra care” for the surface of parts. Furthermore, laser cleaning machines can be set with different parameters to form a protective oxide film or a molten metal layer on the metal surface, further enhancing the strength and corrosion resistance of the metal surface, essentially giving the equipment an “iron shirt” that is impervious to oil and dirt.
